NAB 27 (1988)

Patrick Eyres, Chris Broughton (drawing)

Another polemic missile in support of Ian Hamilton Finlay during The French War. Prompted by a coincidental explosion at the offices of ‘Globe’ magazine, NATO was requested to launch an airstrike on Parisian art media targets. The C-in-C NATO politely declined. The American A-10 ‘Thunderbolt’ was originally deployed to deter the Warsaw Pact tanks apparently massed to invade Western Europe. The ‘Lightning’ was a British fighter bomber, now past its sell-by date as a frontline warplane (though reused in the 1991 Gulf War)
