Dr Patrick Eyres
~ Director of the New Arcadian Press and the driving force behind the New Arcadian Journal and the 70 New Arcadian Broadsheets (1981-2011). He has devised, edited, designed and published each edition, including typesetting, pagination and the preparation of artwork for print.
~ As an author, he has published in numerous books and other journals, and co-edited with Fiona Russell Sculpture and the Garden (Ashgate 2006). See ‘Bibliography’ on the menu bar above. He has also lectured across the UK as well as in the USA and mainland Europe.
~ In 2012, he began to initiate and edit the series of occasional ‘Surrogate NAJs, enlarged and in colour’: Wentworth Castle and Georgian Political Gardening (NAP for WCHT 2012), Diplomats, Goldsmiths and Baroque Court Culture (NAP for WCHT 2014) and On The Spot: The Yorkshire Red Books of Humphry Repton, Landscape Gardener (NAP 2018).
~ Since 1999, he has served on the boards of the Little Sparta Trust, the Wentworth Castle Heritage Trust, the Leeds Art Fund (until 2019) and the Garden History Society (until 2015). Although he retired from the Little Sparta Trust in 2017, Patrick continues to participate in the annual conservation discussion in the garden. On behalf of The Gardens Trust, he established, convenes and chairs the annual New Research Symposium.
