Patrick Eyres and Ian Hamilton Finlay

A polemic in support of Ian Hamilton Finlay during The French War (the text was initiated by Eyres, Finlay coined the punchline). Allegations of Finlay’s fascism, broadcast and published by sections of the French art media, successfully engineered the government’s cancellation of his commission for the only permanent memorial to the French Revolution. Abandoned by the British art and literary establishments, Finlay pursued a private prosecution in the French courts to clear his name. Broadsheets 26 and 27 were mass produced and extensively distributed in Paris as part of the supportive campaign by individuals and the Saint Just Vigilantes
